Tata’s one of the impressive product is Xenon, one of its kind for Tata, has not been received well in India. The reason appears to be awareness and acceptance of overall lifestyle vehicle segment in India. Tata at AutoExpo also showcased a concept of this vehicle along with many other concepts. It also followed the footsteps of Manza and Aria by getting touch of luxury.
First thing we notice is the matte black paint job and carbon fiber treatment lookalike treatment on the bonnet. Also four top mounted lights make it more off road ready looking vehicle. Bulged out wheel arch houses cool new red lined and black colored alloy having larger cross section tire. Red decals look like they are designed on 11th hour but are ok. Sneak in and leather is what you’ll see in ample. New Ebony Black dashboard, Double Din music system, leather wrapped steering wheel, reclining front bucket seats with fore/aft adjustment position and lumbar support, integrated gadget charging points, SRS Airbags for driver and passenger are features which made it to interiors department.
There is an interesting mechanism Tata also mentions is that the Xenon has ‘automated manual transmission’. Unlike the conventional automatic transmission, it has the regular clutch. But there is a mechanism which operates clutch electronically. So it is just an automation to remove operation of clutch application. In addition to this, some new additions are reduced turning radius, electrically operated ORVM with turn signal and electrical shift-on-the-fly mechanism. Enhanced safety feature with ABS and EBD are standard. This will help to add fun to off-roading. This version of Xenon may make it to our roads soon. But it is still difficult to say, considering response to current version, that higher priced Xenon will attract more buyers or not.
