2012 Hyundai i20 front

Hyundai Motors showcased their premium hatchback, the i20 at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and is gearing up to launch the car across the European markets starting with UK. Hyundai has announced that in UK the i20 will be available from 7th May for an on-road price ranging from £9,995 for the three-door 1.2 petrol Classic to £14,295 for the 89hp 1.4 CRDi Style model. The facelifted i20 gets Hyundai’s “Fluidic Treatment” at the front and rear of the vehicle. The hexagonal front grille has been incorporated at the front while the rear gets redesigned tail lamps and bumpers.

Hyundai also states that it has improved the quality of the interiors with its soft-touch plastics and a revised dashboard design. Under the hood, the Hyundai i20 gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine which is more frugal and powerful. The 1.2-litre mill produces 84 BHP of power (as compared to 78 BHP in the previous model) and its fuel economy is now 57.7 mpg on the UK combined cycle and CO2 emission of 114 g/km. The Blue variant of the Hyundai i20 is the most frugal of the lot. It is powered by a 1.1 -litre “U-II” 3 cylinder diesel engine with Intelligent Stop Go and low rolling resistance tires. This engine produces It produces 75 PS and 180 Nm. With a CO2 emission of only 84 g/km the i20 with the 1.1-litre diesel engine returns an insane fuel efficiency of 37 km/l. With such stupendous economy, one can expect the diesel powered next generation i10 to take the Indian market storm.
