2013 Aston Martin Vanquish

Its time to say a ‘bye-bye’ to the DBS and just control your lower jaw from dropping down after seeing the all new VANQUISH. Actually I should not be saying this as an ‘all new’ because this is not a new car. This is the revised version of the old Vanquish. A good car in good old days. As the ONE-77s are ‘officially’ sold out and the production of the DBS is coming to an end, all the Aston Martin fans and maniacs ended up with tension in their souls. Now this ‘Vanquish’ will vanquish that feeling.

A concept version coded as the AM 310 was quietly rolled out at the 2012 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy, and then a completed car bearing the ‘Vanquish’ name on its trunk was spotted just outside Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon, England shortly after. This new model will be released as part of Aston Martin’s centenary celebrations next year.

This machine will be pushed forward by the heavily revised versions of Aston Martin’s venerable VH platform and 6.0-litre V-12 engine, which debuted in 2003 in the DB9. Producing 565 horsepower and 620 Nm of torque, with all the power being transferred to the rear wheels via a ‘Touchtronic 2’ 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. No manual or dual-clutch unit is currently being offered.

Standard carbon-ceramic brakes help this car to stay on ground. There is also a three-mode setup for the suspension: Normal, Sport and Track. The wheels measure 20 inches in diameter and are shod with Pirelli P Zero tires measuring 255/35 up front and 305/30 at the rear. Aston Martin claims that this car will hit the 100 km/h mark in just 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 292 km/h. Yet the brand’s team of engineers have also been working towards economy and emission improvements. Taking the ONE-77 as inspiration, each and every body panel of this car is made of carbon fiber. Thus making it 54.5 kgs lighter than the 1700 kgs DBS.

A 2 or 2+2 seating configuration is offered to the customers and this time you will find more space at the rear than the DBS, with the designers managing to increase the trunk space by 60% to 368-litres. Sales of the 2013 Aston Martin Vanquish are scheduled to start early next year with pricing set at $279,995/- (Rs. 1.6 crore) including destination and taxes.
