Generating passion for cars in the young minds could be the new game plan for Toyota Motor Corp. During the recent 2012 International Tokyo Show, the Japanese automaker unveiled its new Camatte Concept, designed for the young families. Now, it had unveiled the same at the Tokyo Toy Show to target a hypothetical market consisting of children. Perhaps the company eyes it as the future training tool for the next generation Japanese drivers or as the machine that the kids can use as Go-karts.

This little car is just 2.70 meters long and 1.3 meters wide and thus not much smaller than the other minicars. Powered by an electric motor and lead-acid battery, the small machine can hit a top speed of 40 Kmph. It comes with a center-positioned driver’s seat and two side by side seats behind. The best thing about this car is, while the kid drives the car, parents can assist in steering and braking sitting on the seat behind. Also, car features configurable pedals, which allows the kid to develop the driving skills while the parent handles important functions like steering and braking. The name Camatte is derived from the Japanese word “kamau” which means to care for. An apt name indeed!
This car features a number of interchangeable body panels that can easily be swapped for different colors or styles. There are two models for the same – Daichi and Sora. As the name suggests the first one is for boys and the latter for the girls. The Daichi model has a sturdy jeep look. All said but what indeed is the bad news is that the company has no concrete plans of selling these cars.
