2014 Hyundai i10

The second generation Hyundai i10 has already come into focus in India, after the Kia Picanto was spied in Chennai a few months back. Now the very first spy shots of the 2014 Hyundai i10 have surfaced, courtesy our good friends at WorldCarFans. While Hyundai recently updated the i10 with the fluidic styling last year, the company is leaving no stone unturned for the all new i10, which is expected to be unveiled next year (2013 Frankfurt Motor Show). Sales of the next generation Hyundai i10 (codenamed BA) will start in early 2014.

As can be seen in the spy shots, the all new Hyundai i10 gets changes to the front, which include a new bumper, swept back headlights and a large air intake. The roof line slopes down while the shoulder line sweeps upwards. The vehicle also looks bigger than the current model and will boast of increased room and luggage space for passengers. Currently Hyundai manufacturers the i10 in India and is investing heavily to produce the next generation i10 in Turkey. The Turkey plant is capable of churning out 2 lakh units and will quench the demand for the European market.

Engine options on the new Hyundai i10 will be different from the current ones. Hyundai might altogether drop the 1.1-litre Epilson engine and the 1.2-litre Kappa engine. The company will instead plant in a new 1.0-litre Kappa engine which has been developed solely for the Indian market. The new Kappa engine will be produced at Sriperumbudur and will boast of high fuel efficiency. Hyundai will also offer a 1.1-litre diesel engine on the new i10, which will help them compete against the Chevrolet Beat diesel and upcoming Honda Brio diesel.
