Next Generation Hyundai i10 India

Hyundai recently started testing the next generation i10 in Europe and now the car has been spotted in India as well. The 2014 Hyundai i10 gets a range of changes and is an all new model. Codenamed BA internally, the new Hyundai i10 is all set to be unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and is expected to be launched in India by the end of next year. Sales of the i10 have gradually declined as competition has increased and the vehicle lacks a diesel heart. However Hyundai might plonk in a diesel engine in the future.

The 2014 Hyundai i10 grows significantly in most areas. It is much bigger than the current model and looks longer and wider in the spy pictures too. Hyundai’s fluidic styling will be used on the front, with swept back head lamps. The vehicle will also get fog lamps and alloy wheels as standard on the top variant. The interiors will also get major revisions and one can expect increased space and more features in the car. The dashboard design will get changes too.

Underneath the hood of the second generation Hyundai i10 would be all new engines. Hyundai will plonk in a new 1.0-litre Kappa petrol engine in the car. This new motor will be more fuel efficient than the 1.1-litre Epsilon engine found in the first generation i10. The 1.2-litre petrol engine with VTVT will be carried over to the new car. Hyundai is also developing a compact diesel engine for the i10, which could be the same one found on the European i20. This 1.1-litre, 3-cylinder oil burner is high on efficiency and could put the sales of the i10 on fire.
