Maruti Suzuki recently launched the WagonR Pro limited edition, which honestly is a lame attempt by the company. Why didn’t Maruti Suzuki offer the WagonR Urbane instead? The special edition vehicle was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo and looks so much better than the WagonR Pro. While the company is attempting to clear stock of its cars, as demand for petrol variants decline, the Urbane is definitely something which would have worked well. With all the add-ons, Maruti could have offered the WagonR Urbane for a premium of Rs. 30,000/-. A discount of Rs. 20,000/- is already available on the car, so that makes the premium Rs. 10,000/-.
The Maruti Suzuki WagonR Urbane looks quite good. The front incorporates a lip spoiler. There are silver inserts on the front bumper as well as on the hood. WAGONR has been written on the hood, which is not really required. At the side, the WagonR Urbane gets silver graphics and side skirts. 14-inch alloy wheels have been added as well, along with roof rails. The rear features a spoiler and the bumper has thick silver lining. Overall the styling is quite good and a welcome change over the regular WagonR.
The WagonR Urbane also gets changes to the interiors. The vehicle is based on the VXi variant and gets LCD screens for rear passengers There is leather treatment as well. Power continues to come in from the 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine. This 3-cylinder unit produces 67 BHP of power and 90 Nm of torque, which is more than adequate for city driving. The motor is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Do you think it would be a good idea for Maruti Suzuki to offer better limited edition variants, rather than just fitments which anyone could opt for aftermarket?
