Renault Scala Exteriors

Renault will be launching the Scala in India next month and the very first uncamouflaged pictures of the car have surfaced. The Renault Scala is nothing but a re-badged Nissan Sunny. It will be positioned at a slight premium over the Sunny and has slight cosmetic modifications to distinguish it from the Sunny. Renault’s fifth launch in India (not including the Logan), the Scala is expected to bring good volumes to the French automaker. We will be driving the Scala next month and will bring you every detail about the car soon.

As can be seen in the pictures, Renault has made changes to the front and rear of the car. The front features new headlights and grille (similar to the one on the Pulse). At the rear the Scala feature new tail lights. There is a long chrome strip running as well, which hints on the premium positioning of the car. At the side the alloy wheels are different and the changes are not really eye catching. On the inside too, the changes are bare minimum. The Scala features a Renault badge on the steering wheel and that is about it.

The Scala has been designed at Renault’s design centre in Mumbai. It will use the same engines which do duty on the Sunny. The 1.5-litre k9k diesel engine produces 85 BHP of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine is the 1.5-litre unit which produces 98 BHP. Nissan is working on an automatic variant of the petrol Sunny and the Scala is expected to get the autobox as well. The Scala’s USP will be the same as the Sunny, offering high space and good mileage. It remains to be seen if the Scala eats into the Sunny’s sales.
