The wait is over, Jaguar has finally unveiled the much awaited F-Type sports car at the Musee Rodin musuem in Paris. The F-Type was first showcased in 2011, when Jaguar brought the C-X16 Concept to the Frankfurt Motor Show. Jaguar will be bringing the F-Type to India in 2013, which will be via the CBU route. The Jaguar F-Type is being showcased at the Paris Motor Show, which starts later today. The F-Type is also known to be the spiritual successor to the iconic E-Type.

The Jaguar F-Type is a soft top convertible, where the roof can be lowered down in just 12 second at speed upto 48 km/h. The vehicle features an aluminum construction helping in weight reduction and the F-Type weighs just 1600 kgs. The interior is focussed around the driver and the F-Type is a 2-seater, priced at £58,500 (Rs. 51,00,000/-) in the UK for the base variant. However in India, the F-Type range will start at over a crore rupees.

The Jaguar F-Type is offered in three variants; F-Type, F-Type S and F-Type V8 S. The F-Type and F-Type S are powered by a new 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine which produces 335 BHP and 375 BHP respectively. This results in a 0 – 100 km/h time of 5.2 seconds for the 335 BHP model and 4.9 seconds for the 375 BHP model. The top end F-Type V8 S is powered by a new 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine which produces 488 BHP of power and 625 Nm of torque enabling it to reach 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds.

Top speed of the 3 models are 260 km/h, 275 km/h and 300 km/h respectively. All the engines are mated to a 8-speed Quickshift automatic gearbox. The front-engine, rear wheel drive configuration ensures sharp handling. Jaguar will start sales of the F-Type from the middle of next year and will subsequently launch the car in the U.S. Being a high performance sports car, the Jaguar F-Type is loaded with the best bit of technology including dynamic launch mode, emergency brake assist and Jaguar adaptive dynamics suspenion damping system which controls the vehicle’s movement and adjusts it to ensure agility and stability.
