2013 Volkswagen Polo

Volkswagen has launched the updated Polo and Vento with new features. The company will start sales of the updated models in the later half of this month. Sales of both the Vento and Polo were seeing a slight decline as competition became intense in the B and C-segments. Thus Volkswagen has added more features and also revised prices of the Polo and Vento, which are volume products for the German company. The automaker expects volumes to increase with the launch of the more feature laden models. This launch is VW’s way to benefit from the sales spike expected in the upcoming festive season.

“The introduction of new features in the Polo and the Vento will further excite the customers as both the carlines will offer much more value now.” Adding further, “The introduction of these features will pave the path for higher volumes for these carlines,’ Mr. Arvind Saxena, Managing Director, Volkswagen India, said.

The updated Volkswagen Polo Highline diesel is priced at Rs. 6.94 lakhs, which is a Rs. 42,000/- decrease in price over the old Polo. The old Polo Highline was priced at Rs. 7.36 lakhs. The updated Volkswagen Vento Highline diesel is priced at Rs. 9.89 lakhs, which is a Rs. 31,000/- reduction in price over the previous model. The old Vento Highline was priced at Rs. 10.20 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, New Delhi). There is no mention as to whether localization has been increased but we feel the company has reduced its margins to boost sales.
