2013 Honda CB500F India

The Honda CB500F has been unveiled and priced at $5499 in the United States. The Honda CB500F is a semi-faired motorcycle, which shares its underpinnings with the Honda CBR500R. The CB500F is powered by the same 500cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine which employs DOHC and produces 46 BHP of power at 8500 RPM and 43 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The Japanese automaker claims the Honda CB500F has good amount of torque and the overall performance of the motor is geared more towards daily usability than outright performance.

The Honda CB500F like the CBR500R gets 41mm front forks and pro-link monoshock with 9-position spring preload adjustability. Braking duties are taken care by 320mm petal discs at the front and 240mm petal disc at the rear. Tyres are 120/70/17 and 160/60/17 at the front and rear respectively. The Honda CB500F is offered in two variants – standard and ABS, with the ABS version costing $500 more (Rs. 27,500/-). A fully digital console is offered on the CB500F, which is similar to the other 500cc machines from Honda.

The Honda CB500F weighs 5 kgs lesser than the CBR500R. Thus this 190 kgs motorcycle is expected to have marginally better acceleration. Honda offers the CB500F in black and white colors and intends to start sales in the USA in April 2013. India launch of the CB500F seems uncertain as Indians love full faired machines, something which the CBR500R is. If launched, the CB500F can be priced at around Rs. 2.75 lakhs.
