Nissan Extreme Concept Front

Nissan has had a decent start in India after the launch of the Micra and Sunny. Being one of the largest Japanese car manufacturer, with presence in more than 160 countries, Nissan has been in India for quite some time but the Nissan X-Trail and Teana never really scorched the charts. Nissan have now announced their expansion plans for India.

Nissan will launch two to three new cars in 2013 and by 2015, their lineup will have expanded to 12 models. They will be investing $45 million for a new manufacturing plant in South India. Currently having 68 dealers, Nissan will add 29 more to the tally soon and by 2018 they plan to have a massive dealer network of near 400 dealerships.

The Japanese Car maker has announced that they will start assembling the Next Generation X-Trail in India and make India an export hub like many other manufacturers like Hyundai and Suzuki have done. The next generation X-Trail will be a CKD and attract lesser taxes making it cheaper than the current model, making it a very worthy contender to current SUV’s in the market.

Nissan plans to bring their luxury brand, Infinity, to India. This brand consists of many luxury products to take on the German trio of BMW, Mercedes and Audi. After their Budget brand, Datsun, is introduced in India, Nissan will launch the the ‘Sylplhy’ or a similar car in the same category.

Nissan Motorsport division, Nismo, is also under contemplation to be brought to India. With the sale of high end sports cars on a steady rise in India, Nissan too wants a piece of the action. Nissan already has top line products such as the GT-R and 370Z, which boast of superior technology.

Lastly, Nissan will also update their current line of cars, with new versions of the Micra and the Sunny expected to be launched next year. Nissan is investing for a very bright future in India with an amazing line of new products as well as a massive growth in the number of dealers and service centers. Nissan faced a few problems due to lack of dealers and lack of customer satisfaction in after sales, which Nissan are determined to solve.
