2013 Maruti Suzuki SX4 Facelift Caught Testing

The much awaited facelift for the Maruti Suzuki SX4 sedan was caught testing in Gujarat. The revamped model caught, was a CNG VXi variant featuring mild cosmetic changes. The changes seen from the images include a new chrome front grille, refreshed bumpers and new headlamp treatment. According to sources, the car is expected to be launched early in 2013. The interiors and engine options are likely to be unchanged. Maruti Suzuki currently offers two engine options on the SX4, 1.6-litre petrol (including a CNG variant) and 1.3-litre diesel.

The Maruti Suzuki SX4 was launched in India in 2007, only with a 1.6-litre petrol motor. In 2009, the SX4 was updated with minor cosmetic changes and a 1.6-litre petrol VVT engine churning out 105 BHP and 145 Nm of torque with an option of four-speed automatic transmission. Later in 2010, Maruti Suzuki introduced a CNG variant for the SX4, trying to push its sales in the market. The last update seen on the SX4 was in 2011, when Maruti Suzuki introduced the 1.3-litre diesel engine producing 90 BHP and 200 Nm of torque.

Recently, the Maruti Suzuki SX4 is experiencing a rapid fall on its sales chart with 692 units sold last month. The SX4’s rivals like Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna and Honda City give it a run for its money. However, the SX4 is known for its huge ground clearance, good value and wide service network provided by Maruti Suzuki. The prices for the 2013 Maruti Suzuki SX4 are likely to remain the same. Let’s wait and watch, whether the facelift works for the SX4 in increasing sales or not.
