Honda has started playing aggressively for its near future in the international markets as well as the Indian market. The automaker believes that small cars will contribute to the company’s aim of achieving six million global sales by the year 2017. Honda has announced that the new Jazz will be introduced in the second quarter of 2014. The third generation Jazz will be an all new model based on a new platform, which will be shared eventually with the Honda City sedan and Honda Urban SUV. Honda had showcased the compact SUV concept recently at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show.

The next generation Honda City and Urban SUV are expected to be introduced in 2015. The upcoming Jazz will be featuring new design elements on the exteriors as well as interiors equipped with a long list of high-tech features. The Jazz is expected to roll out with both the diesel and petrol engines and a much needed automatic transmission. Honda will finally offer a diesel engine for the Jazz, which is expected to be a 1.5-litre i-DTEC turbo diesel engine.

The existing Honda Jazz offers only a 1.2-litre petrol unit. The 4-cylinder 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine is capable of producing 90 BHP of maximum power at 6200 RPM and a peak torque figure of 110 Nm at 4800 RPM coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission and returns a fuel efficiency figure of 16.7 km/l (claimed). The Honda Jazz is known for its interior space, stylish design, refined engine and practicality in city conditions. It comes with a starting price of Rs. 5.75 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). Honda looks promising to offer a better product line-up for the Indian market starting with the Honda Amaze.
