Mercedes Benz E 63 AMG Front

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the new 2014 E63 AMG. The facelifted Mercedes E63 AMG is available in two avatars, a saloon and an estate. The Stuttgart based luxury car maker will be showcasing the new E63 AMG at the upcoming 2013 Detroit Auto Show. The beast is upgraded with some new AMG design elements and improved performance. The automaker is offering a new S-Model with the E63 AMG featuring the Mercedes-Benz 4-Matic all-wheel drive system.

The Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG is powered by a 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine putting out a maximum power output of 550 BHP with a peak torque figure of 720 Nm. The power and torque figures have been increased by 32 BHP and 20 Nm over its predecessor. The new all-wheel drive S-Model churns out a maximum power output of 577 BHP and an enormous peak torque figure of 800 Nm. The 5.5-litre unit is coupled with AMG’s 7-speed Speedshift MCT automatic transmission.

The standard Mercedes E63 AMG saloon is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/hr in 4.2 seconds, whereas the S-Model trim can do 0-100 km/hr in 3.6 seconds. The top speed of all the models has been limited electronically to 250 km/hr. The E63 AMG comes equipped with the AMG Ride Control that electronically controls the adaptive suspension offering a choice of three modes as standard – Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus. The S-Model features a differential lock in the rear axle for improved traction control. The standard E63 AMG will be launched in the international market in April, whereas the 4-Matic and the S-Model will be launched in June this year.
