2014 Jaguar XJR Front

Jaguar has unveiled the XJR, which will be displayed at the 2013 New York Auto Show. The Jaguar XJR is the performance headed luxury saloon and according to the manufacturer, it is the most focused, agile and responsive member of the XJ range. The changes on the exteriors as well as interiors are subtle. The elements that make the Jaguar XJR look different from the standard versions include a front splitter, ‘R’ side sills, boot-lid spoiler, quad tailpipes, special ‘R’ bonnet louxvers, 20-inch lightweight forged Farallon wheels with specially developed Pirelli tyres and the red logo upfront.

The interiors of the Jaguar XJR feature semi-aniline leather upholstery with contrasting color stitching, and veneers in either Carbon Fiber or Piano Black. For premium sound quality, the vehicle features a standard 380W, 12-speaker surround-sound system made by Meridian, as seen on other Jaguar Land Rover siblings too. The Jaguar XJR is powered by the same unit powering the XKR-S GT, which is a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine that is capable of producing 542 HP of maximum power and 680 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifts.

The monstrous V8 engine pushes the Jaguar XJR from 0-100 km/hr in just 4.4 seconds and the British manufacturer claims a top speed of 280 km/hr. For better handling and stability characteristics, Jaguar has tuned the dampers and spring rates for the XJR. It is specially equipped with active electronic differential and Dynamic Stability Control system. Braking power comes from 380 mm front and 376 mm rear internally ventilated discs. The Jaguar XJR comes with a starting price of $1,16,000 (Rs. 62.95 lakhs) in the U.S., with the long wheelbase version costing an additional $3000 (Rs. 1.62 lakhs).
