Mahindra Mini SUV

Mahindra has a big plan lined up for expanding its SUV portfolio in India. The manufacturer is considering slotting in their future SUVs in different segments. Autocar India has recently spotted a heavily camouflaged test mule of Mahindra’s upcoming mini SUV, which will be positioned below the Mahindra Quanto. Mahindra will be offering the new baby SUV (codenamed S101) under the sub 4-metre category. Mahindra will be introducing the S101 compact SUV in order to take on mini SUVs like the Ford EcoSport.

The S101 Mahindra SUV is expected to be priced very aggressively and it can also eat up the sales of hatchbacks as well as entry level sedans. The sub- 4-metre sweet spot is the most targeted segment nowadays and with the rising demand for SUVs, Mahindra has a good opportunity to slot in a mini SUV that can help the manufacturer get big volumes. From the looks of it, the heavily camouflaged test mule with temporary headlamps and tail lamps is at its initial stage of development.

The Mahindra S101 boasts a sporty crossover stance with a raked rear windshield, high ground clearance and big wheels. According to sources, the manufacturer will share the interior elements with its existing line-up to keep the costs low and will squeeze in a 6-seater or an 8-seater layout. Mahindra is also developing an upmarket version of the S101, which will be codenamed as S102. We expect the company to offer both diesel as well as petrol engine options on the S101.
