2013 Honda Amaze Price

Honda has launched the Amaze in India, calling it a new family sedan. The company has also forayed into the diesel segment for the very first time with the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel mill. The Honda Amaza has been developed by Honda’s Asia Pacific R&D centre located in Bangkok, Thailand. The Amaze has been intelligently engineered to stay true to Honda’s philosophy of “Man Maximum Machine Minimum.” The Honda Amaze is priced between Rs. 4.99 – 7.60 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Honda Amaze is offered with two engines, petrol and diesel. The petrol motor is the 1.2-litre SOHC, i-VTEC engine which produces 88 PS of power at 6000 RPM and 109 Nm of torque at 4500 RPM. This engine is mated to 5-speed manual and automatic transmissions, returning 18 km/l and 15.5 km/l respectively. The diesel engine has been specially developed for the Indian market, keeping local conditions in mind. The 1.5-litre i-DTEC oilburner produces 100 PS of power at 3600 RPM and 200 Nm of torque at 1750 RPM, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel Amaze is the most fuel efficient car in India, returning a claimed mileage of 25.8 km/l.

Honda is offering the Amaze in 10 variants – E, EX, S and VX in petrol and diesel, mated to a manual gearbox and S and VX variants mated to the 5-speed automatic gearbox (petrol only). The E variant gets electric power steering, central locking, AC with heater, chrome front grille, body coloured bumpers, front and rear power windows, tilt steering, Eco lamp, rear micro antenna, immobiliser and fuel consumption display. The EX variant adds 1 DIN audio system with front speakers, body coloured rear view mirrors and door handles.

The S variant adds 2 DIN integrated audio system with steering mounted audio controls, keyless entry, power adjustable rear view mirrors, driver seat height adjustment, full wheel cover and rear seat arm rest with drink holders. The top of the line VX variant adds ABS, EBD, front airbags, front fog lamps, alloy wheels, power foldable rear view mirrors with turn indicators, rear defogger, double horn, heat absorbing front windscreen and dual tone seat fabric and interiors. Honda has made ABS and EBD standard on all diesel and automatic variants.

The Honda Amaze is offered in 6 colours namely Blue, Titanium, Silver, Red, Black and White. Honda calls the Blue colour new and exclusive. The company is offering a 2-years /40,000 kms warranty and buyers can also take a 2-years/ 40,000 kms maintenance package which is priced at Rs. 9996/- for the petrol Amaze and Rs. 15,375/- for the diesel Amaze. The company is manufacturing the Amaze at its Greater Noida facility, with a 90 percent level of localisation. The plant can manufacture 440 cars a day or 1.2 lakh cars a year (to be doubled in the future as new models are brought to India). Some body panels and engine components (for both diesel and petrol motors) are manufactured at Honda’s Tapukara factory. Bookings of the Amaze started on 1st April through Honda’s 150 dealers in 97 cities. By the end of this fiscal year, Honda will expand its reach to 102 cities with 162 facilities.

As can be seen in the prices above, the Honda Amaze is priced bang on against the Swift DZire. The Amaze does offer more, in terms of more interior room, higher quality, bigger boot, better brand name and more powerful diesel engine with higher mileage. All this tips the scale in the Amaze’s favour.
