2013 Nissan Micra India

Nissan has announced its plans to manufacture the next generation Micra hatchback in Reanalt’s Flins plant in France. The next generation Micra will hit production lines in Europe in 2016, aiming at an annual volume capacity of 82,000 units from the Renault plant. Renault has negotiated with labor union representatives for the manufacturing of Nissan products in Renault plants. The next Nissan Micra will also be exported across Europe’s left-hand drive car markets. Under the new strategy, Nissan will launch one new model every six weeks on an average for the duration of the plan.

Nissan is planning to fully utilize the available capacity across all plants in the Nissan manufacturing network will also be seeking alternatives within the Renault-Nissan Alliance. Nissan’s Chennai plant will also be utilized fully and is expected to produce the next generation Micra during the year 2016. The proposal of manufacturing the next generation Nissan Micra in one of the Renault’s plant in Europe will help Nissan in many ways including capital expense reduction, foreign exchange exposure reduction and working capital reduction through shorter supply chains.

Currently, the Indian car market is awaiting the launch of the facelifted Nissan Micra which is expected to be seen with the Indian dealerships within a few weeks of time. Nissan has launched the Micra facelift in Thailand and it looks much grown up than the existing model. The Micra facelift is likely to get an added variant of automatic transmission in India but the petrol and diesel engine options will remain unchanged. The next generation Micra will get a host of new changes with the exterior as well as interior design treatment equipped with new list of features.
