2012 Toyota Corolla Altis

Toyota, has launched two new variants of their successful sedan, the Corolla Altis. Toyota did not create a hoopla around this new development but just discretely updated this information on their website. Both petrol and diesel versions get a new variant called the J (S). In the diesel version the J (S) slots above the base J variant with additional features but in the petrol version the J (S) replaces the base variant, J variant which has now been discontinued.

The Toyota Corolla Altis’ new petrol base variant, J (S), gets additional safety and luxury features. It gets driver and passenger airbags in the front, manual HVAC and a touchscreen display with USB compatibility. At the rear it gets a new armrest. For the diesel J (S) variant, Toyota has added driver and front passenger airbags and a touchscreen display with USB compatibity in addition to the features available on the base J variant. Clearly the Corolla Altis is facing stiff competition and Toyota is ensuring the value for money quotient remains high with these new variants.

Toyota has launched these new basic variants with higher features as the Indian market is getting more luxury, safety and feature conscious and the competition is becoming tougher with rival car companies giving many features at lower cost. The Corolla Altis J (S) petrol has been launched at Rs. 11.74 lakh and the J (S) diesel at Rs. 13.16 (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). Both petrol and diesel versions are powered by the same engines as before, the 1.8-litre petrol (138 BHP, 173 Nm) and the 1.4-litre diesel (87 BHP, 205 Nm) engines.
