BMW Active Tourer Outdoor Concept

BMW is planning to launch a few front-wheel drive cars for its future lineup. Having said that, the German automaker recently unveiled the BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor, which is a spruced up version of the BMW Concept Active Tourer showcased at the 2013 New York Motor Show. BMW describes this body type as a perfect blend of compact dimensions, functionality, sportiness and style. The exclusive new Gold Race Orange paint job on the Active Tourer Outdoor further enhances the appeal of the plug-in hybrid car.

BMW will use this concept for the production version of the 1-Series GT, which will have a front-wheel drive setup. The concept exhibits an aggressive design language which describes the dynamic characteristic of the hybrid car. The interiors of the concept look plush, thanks to the floating centre console and extensive use of moon white leather. Clever styling elements on the interiors help to achieve maximum possible cabin space. The flexible seating also helps in added load compartment space.

The concept features a 1.5-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine which is coupled with an electric motor. The hybrid produces a combined power output of 190 HP and is capable of doing 0-100 km/hr sprint under 8 seconds with a top speed of 200 km/hr. The hybrid technology returns a fuel consumption of 40 km/l. The BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor is well-equipped too, it gets a multifunction instrument 8-inch display with three driving modes – Comfort, Sport and Eco Pro. BMW has unveiled the concept at the OutDoor Friedrichshafen fair.
