Skoda has given a comprehensive facelift to the Yeti which is now offered in two distinct designs – Yeti Outdoor and Yeti Style. The updated Skoda Yeti gets new front and rear bumpers, new lights, new alloy wheels and fresher interiors. Skoda has also increased the features in its SUV which according to the company offers high functionality. The Czech automaker is expected to launch the 2014 Skoda Yeti in India next year, when the company might increase localisation and alter pricing to boost sales. Last month Skoda sold 41 units of the Yeti in the Indian market.
The Skoda Yeti gets two design ranges. The Skoda Yeti Style is designed for the city while the Outdoor version is designed for off-road appearance. The key differentiator between them are the bumpers, underride guard, side moulding and door sills, which are finished in body colour on the Style version and black plastic on the Outdoor version. The Outdoor Yeti gets silver exterior mirrors. Skoda has also given Yeti buyers the option of bi-xenon headlights with integrated daytime running lights. The new grille and redesigned headlights give the Yeti a very sharp appearance.
At the rear, the new tailgate and tail lights give the Skoda Yeti freshness. The rear tail lights can be ordered with LEDs as well. Skoda offers new colours and new wheel options on the Yeti. On the inside, the Skoda Yeti gets a new 3-spoke steering wheel along with new fabrics and patterns for the seats. The company has also added optical parking assistant (rear view camera), automatic parking assistant, KESSY (automatic lock and start system without the use of a key), double-sided floor covering and detachable LED light in the boot, vest holder under the driver’s seat and waste container in the side door.
The Skoda Yeti retains all the features of the previous model which includes dual-zone AC, cruise control, powered driver’s seat, panoramic sunroof, individually folding rear seats (VarioFlex) to name a few. Powering the vehicle are seven engines mated to manual and DSG transmissions with power being channelled to front and all-wheels (depending on the variant). There are seven engines (four diesel and three petrol), all of which are turbocharged and use direct injection. These engines displace capacity between 1.2 to 2.0-litres. Skoda will power the updated Yeti with the same 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine in India, which might get a slight power bump. An automatic variant is expected as well.
