Suzuki is coming up with the V-Strom 1000 for the upcoming 2014 model year. The Japanese manufacturer is readying up the adventure bike to compete with the likes of the BMW R1200GS. The Suzuki V-Strom 1000 has a rugged stance with bold styling elements which makes it look like a typical adventure bike. The manufacturer has given it a slim design for nimble agility. The upcoming adventure model is powered by a 1036cc V-Twin engine that produces a maximum power output of 100 PS at 8000 RPM with a peak torque of 103 Nm at 4000 RPM.

Suzuki claims that the new 1036cc engine delivers strong low-mid range power and torque. Earlier, Suzuki had a similar adventure bike known as DL1000 V-Strom, which was more of a road going adventure bike and was discontinued in 2009. The new Suzuki V-Strom 1000 weighs 228 kgs and is 8 kgs lighter than the original DL1000 V-Strom. According to Suzuki, the new offering is the lightest motorcycle in its class. The Suzuki V-Strom 1000 is based on a twin-spar aluminium chassis with a 19-inch front wheel.

ABS is standard with radially mounted calipers and the traction control system is developed by Suzuki’s MotoGP division. The all new traction control system has five sensors that helps to deliver optimum traction on varied terrains and comes with multi-function settings too. The Suzuki V-Strom 1000 has a 20-litre fuel tank capacity and the manufacturer claims a fuel efficiency of 25 km/l with 416 kms of total range when the tank is full. Suzuki has hinted a price bracket of around £10,000 (Rs. 10 lakhs).
