Mahindra has launched the facelift version of the rather bland looking Bolero Pick-Up that retained the styling of the previous Bolero. Now the leading utility vehicle maker has given the Bolero Pick-Up an update that includes new styling and updated mechanicals. The exterior updates will remind you of the standard Bolero, which has a wider grille, bigger set of headlamps and a redesigned bumper. The interiors now get dual tone treatment with basic features such as fabric seats, headrest, recliner and slider with retractable seatbelts, mobile holder and charging point for convenience.
In terms of mechanicals, Mahindra has improved the load capacity of the vehicle to 1250 kgs and the engine gets equipped with Micro Hybrid technology, resulting in a better claimed fuel mileage of 13.86 km/l. There is nothing hybrid in the Micro Hybrid technology, as we have seen earlier on the other products. It is an automatic stop/start mechanism that shuts off the engine when it is idle. Powering the Bolero Pick-Up is the same 2.5-litre MDI diesel engine that produces 63 BHP of power with 195 Nm of torque.
Mahindra has launched the Bolero Pick-Up with a price tag of Rs. 5.45 lakhs (BS3, ex-showroom Mumbai). The manufacturer is also offering three years unlimited kilometers warranty on the engine and driveline. The company claims that the Mahindra Bolero Pick-Up Flat Bed contributes over 60 percent to overall pick-up sales. Mahindra believes that the Indian pick-up truck market is growing at a healthy rate, hence the move to update the high selling Bolero Pick-Up. The carmaker is currently developing new products on new platforms, which will be seen post 2015. Until then updates and facelifts will be seen on the existing products.
