The increase in awareness about depleting fuel resources and several other environment related issues has led the buyers to opt for electric or hybrid cars which in-corporate’s the latest technology in their functioning and are also eco-friendly. Recently, Honda has launched the next generation Jazz (FIT) in Japan and there were more than 62,000 bookings in one month which is an example to show that in the future, hybrid cars will hold the maximum share in sold volumes.

The rivalry between the top luxury brands Mercedes-Benz and BMW is most intense in the automotive world as both the brands have vehicles in every segment where they compete head to head. The Eeectric car segment is no exception. Mercedes is going to launch the B-Class Electric Drive which is going to compete with the recently launched BMW i3 electric supermini. According to the officials at Mercedes-Benz, the electric B-Class will be able to compete with the BMW i3 in every aspect, with the company claiming it to be better than the Bavarian automobile.

The B-Class Electric Drive will come with five seats and the battery has a range of 200 kms for normal daily usage. It can achieve a top speed of 160 km/hr and will complete the 0-100 km/hr stint in just 7.9 seconds. The engine churns out a decent 300 Nm of torque. The electric version of the B-Class will be first launched in the US next year, followed by Europe in the same year. Though we don’t have the details of the pricing, it is expected that it would be extremely competitive with the BMW i3.
