Ducati Monster 1200 Wallpaper

Ducati has finally unveiled the Monster 1200 which was being spied around for a really long time now. The Ducati Monster 1200 is being showcased at the 2013 EICMA Motorcycle Show, one of the most prestigious two-wheeler events in the world. The Ducati Monster 1200 borrows the engine from its touring sibling, the Multistrada and sports cruiser Diavel. The Monster 1200 will sit on top of the Monster lineup with this new, Testastretta water-cooled engine, a first for the Monster series.

Ducati Monster engines have always been air/oil-cooled. The engine produces 135 BHP of power at a low 8750 RPM and 118 Nm of torque at 7250 RPM. There will be two version of the Monster 1200. One which gets 135 BHP and 118 Nm tune while the other gets 145 BHP of power and 124 Nm of torque at the same RPM, in the Ducati Monster S. The latter gets tuned by a RBW mapping technique. The 11 degree V-twin engine is attached to either sides of the chassis. One side of the engine gets connected to the front main steel trellis frame while the other gets connected to the rear subframe in true Ducati fashion. Street-fighters alway suffer and cry out loud because of the low fuel carrying capacity they offer. Ducati has addressed it with a large 17.5 litre fuel tank for the first time in the Monster.

The Ducati Monster 1200 comes equipped with a slipper clutch and Ride by Wire throttle system. The bike gets a full TFT instrument panel, traction control system and 9MP ABS system. The entire motorcycle weighs 182 kgs. With the kind of displacement the Monster offers and the top of the line engine tune, the 1200 should offer jaw dropping performance. However, it can come close to the Kawasaki Z1000 in terms of horsepower but nowhere near the new 1:1 ratio boy, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R.

The Ducati Monster 1200 looks like any other Monster from the family. Twin LEDs in the front headlight, large rider seat and a large fuel tank which runs upwards. Fat tyres, one sided swingarm and dual exhausts at the rear make it look like a true and unmistakably hardcore Ducati indeed. India entry? Likely! Expect this Monster of a motorcycle to come in around pre-monsoon 2014 via the CBU route.
