2014 BMW 5-Series LCI Facelift Spied In China

After the launch of facelifted Mercedes-Benz E-Class range, its time for BMW to come up with a mid-cycle facelift for the 5-Series range. The updated 2014 BMW 5-Series has been spotted uncamouflaged by the Chinese media recently and has been called LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) by the Bavarian automaker. There are minor cosmetic updates on the 5-Series facelift. The front bumper is revamped with some chrome highlighting and bigger fog lamps and the rear bumper now comes with new quadrilateral dual exhaust pipes tucked in neatly.

We can expect fresh set of alloy wheel with the updated 5-Series. The interiors are also expected to get updated with minor changes, which may include a new iDrive system borrowed from its elder sibling, the 7-Series. The Chinese market is likely to get the 535Li version, which is the long-wheelbase version of the regular 5-Series measuring 5039 mm in length. The long-wheelbase version is exclusively being designed and built at BMW’s Shenyang plant in China.

The 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engine options for the BMW 5-Series are likely to remain unchanged for the facelifted model. It is expected that the updated 5-Series will be introduced at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show in April this year. We can expect the facelifted 5-Series to hit the Indian dealerships later this year. Currently, the BMW 5-Series in the Indian market comes with a starting price of Rs. 38.90 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and rivals the Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6 and Jaguar XF.
