2014 Hyundai i10 Looks Attractive Even When Camouflaged

You really can’t judge a book by its cover, especially when the book itself is wrapped in another cover. However the next generation Hyundai i10 (Grand i10) is an attractive vehicle, because everyone seems to be attracted to the test mule (as can be seen in the picture above). Jokes aside, the 2014  Hyundai i10 continues to follow its test course and we happened to catch it yet again, on the outskirts of Mumbai. We drove alongside the vehicle to the Mumbai-Pune expressway and shot a video of the all new i10 too.

There is a lot of buzz on the 2014 Hyundai i10 as finally a small diesel engine is making its debut from the Korean automaker. The 1.1-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine might just set benchmarks for economy and is expected to be a total city dweller with excellent drivability being its USP. This 3-pot oil burner produces a respectable 75 BHP of power and 180 Nm of torque. It is coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox and should fight for the most fuel efficient car badge in our country.

Hyundai hasn’t revealed many details about the all new i10. The second generation car will be much bigger than before, slotting right between the current i10 and i20 in Hyundai’s India lineup. The Korean company plans to take on the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra and Ford Figo head on with the new i10. Production of the new i10 will take place in India and Turkey and the vehicle has been benchmarked against Volkswagen’s city car, the Up!. Expect class leading features on the 2014 Hyundai i10, when it goes on sale in the first week of August this year.
