Harley-Davidson Street 750 500 Front

Harley-Davidson will launch the Street 750 in India on the 5th of February at the 2014 Auto Expo. Bookings for the Street 750 will start immediately after launch and production of the motorcycle will start in the same month, prior to the launch. The Street 750 will be priced under Rs. 5 lakhs (on-road). Both the Street 750 and Street 500 will be produced in India but the latter will be launched in 2015. The reason for launching only the Street 750 in 2014 is simple. Harley-Davidson doesn’t want to confuse buyers with multiple launches at once.

By launching one product at a time, it will be easier for the American motorcycle brand to market and communicate to prospective customers. The Street 750 and Street 500 share almost all their parts amongst each other, sans the engine of course. The Street 750 is being launched first as the company has seen more interest in the 750 from Indian customers. This interest was gauged by the company when it did its research. Meanwhile in the USA, both the Street 500 and Street 750 will be sold from the same time.

The Harley-Davidson Street 500 is expected to be priced under Rs. 4.5 lakhs (on-road) when it goes on sale in India next year. The bike will produce around 35 BHP of power and will return decent economy while being swift to ride in the city as well on the highways. The company is looking at exporting these models to other countries as well, starting from this year itself. Around 8000 Street motorcycles will be sold the world over in 2014 and the company currently has 13 dealerships in India, which it will expand to 16 outlets by the year end.
