Suzuki Inazuma 250

Suzuki has launched the Inazuma in India, priced at Rs. 3.10 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Also known as the GW250, the Inazuma is positioned as a bike with big looks, stylish design and easy to master power delivery. This translates to the sober character of the 248cc, parallel-twin engine which delivers power sedately unlike the mad KTM Duke 200 which keeps you on the prowl all throughout. Inazuma which in Japanese means lightning, isn’t going to lighten up Suzuki’s balance sheets with this price tag. We feel the company has overpriced this quarter-litre offering by a good Rs. 1 lakh.

The Suzuki Inazuma produces 25 PS of power and 24.4 Nm of torque, coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike uses 110 mm and 140 mm tyres at the front and rear respectively. It has a 13.3-litre tank while the weight is 183 kgs. The press release states two colours will be available – black and red while Suzuki’s website is in disagreement stating only black colour is offered. The tagline for the Suzuki Inazuma is “The Spark For Your Inner Engine”. Bookings started earlier this month and the bike is being displayed at all Suzuki dealerships across the country.

Suzuki feels the Inazuma can do decent numbers as it’s a unique offering. The bike has dual chromed exhausts and a twin-cylinder engine but the price is all wrong even though the company has brought down the vehicle via the CKD route. Suzuki India’s president, Mr. Atul Gupta feels the Inazuma will attract the youth, motorcycle enthusiasts and college students in urban cities. The Japanese automaker plans to bring in an array of products in the near future, few of them will be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo.
