Ford Fiesta Facelift Front

The 2014 Ford Fiesta facelift made its debut at the 2014 Auto Expo revealing the American automaker’s new design language. However, the sales of the updated Fiesta will commence in the next couple of months. We got up close and personal with the Fiesta facelift at the Auto Expo and got our hands on the brochure that reveals most of the details of the car. In terms of styling, the new Fiesta looks fresh, thanks to the clever tweaks on the grille up front, which looks premium and energetic.

There are some changes at the rear as well on the Fiesta facelift that makes the profile look complete. On the inside, you get a new colour theme, which is light and gives you a sense of roominess that the previous model didn’t have with its dark interiors. The dashboard design is more or less the same but you get new features with the updated offering. The 2014 Ford Fiesta will be offered in three trim levels – Ambiente, Trend and Titanium.

The brochure of the Ford Fiesta facelift states only diesel engine option but we expect the carmaker to offer the 1.5-litre petrol engine carried forward from the previous model. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost (123 BHP, 170 Nm) turbo petrol engine seen on the EcoSport is also likely to make it under the hood of the new Fiesta. The 1.5-litre TDCi 4-cylinder diesel makes 90 PS of power with 204 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.5-litre petrol churning out 108 BHP is likely to be offered with an optional dual-clutch PowerShift 6-speed automatic transmission. The petrol engines won’t be offered at the time of launch, as seen in the brochure.

In terms of equipment, you get automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, puddle lamps, ambient lighting, electric ORVMs, cruise control, reverse parking sensors, push button start with smart key and updated SYNC system with voice commands including AUX, Bluetooth, CD and USB connectivity. In terms of safety, ABS with EBD and dual airbags are standard on all variants. The 2014 Ford Fiesta also comes with EPAS with pull drift compensation technology. So, the new Fiesta is loaded with features and looks fantastic, all Ford needs to do is, price it right with improved localisation, which is likely to happen as the EcoSport uses high amount of local content and both cars share parts.
