2014 Force Gurkha Spy Shot

Force Motors has been testing the Gurkha which was caught on a break by us recently. The model on test was the top of the line 4×4 hard top variant with all the off-roading bells and whistles. The steel finished snorkel was also on mounted to the engine in the front. From what we can see in the spy shot, the Gurkha does not receive any kind of a visual upgrade as the model did not bear any camouflage, but just test plates.

Force could be testing the BS4 variant of the Gurkha enabling the company to launch it in the big cities where the SUV could not be sold due to the emission norms. The BSIV variant will give the off-roading enthusiasts another major product apart from the Mahindra Thar to choose from. The Gurkha is the second product from Force Motors after the Force One SUV and is a true blue off-roader.

Taking heavy inspiration from the G-Wagon, the Force Gurkha is powered by a Mercedes sourced 2.6-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine producing a humble 81 BHP and 230 Nm of peak torque, coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The SUV uses a tubular ladder type chassis, and gets a front and rear differential, snorkel kit as well as a transfer case. The Gurkha comes with an impressive ground clearance of 210 mm and rides on 16-inch tyres wrapped around alloy wheels.

If Force Motors is indeed working on a BS4 variant of the Gurkha, the SUV could be priced at a slight premium than the existing variant. The Gurkha range starts with a 4×2 base variant with a soft top, priced at Rs. 6.25 lakhs, along with a 4×4 soft-top and a 4×4 hard top variant that costs Rs. 8.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). Very little is known on the updated Gurkha as of now, but we will keep you updated on all the development as and when it happens.
