Audi TT Offroad Concept

The new Audi TT Off-Road Concept has been unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. The TT nameplate has always been used on Audi’s 2-door sports car and this is the first time that the automaker is giving the TT moniker to a 4-door SUV. The company claims that this concept provides a blend of sportiness of a coupe along with the practicality of a compact SUV. Audi had showcased the TT Coupe in March this year and now this concept is derived from the TT Coupe. Many design elements like the headlights and grille are similar on both the concepts.

The Audi TT Off-Road Concept is similar to the Q3 when it comes to size. It measures 4390 mm in length, 1850 mm in width and 2630 mm in height. Audi has kept the design quite sporty and it surely looks like a step up from the present day Audis. Powering this concept is a 2.0-litre TFSI engine giving out 288 HP of power and this engine is mated to two electric motors upping the total power output to 408 PS and 650 Nm of torque. Each electric motor churns out 54 HP of power and a separating clutch links the engine to this motor. The powerplant is mated to a 6-speed e-S tronic transmission.

There is a separate electric motor on the rear axle that produces 114 HP of power and 270 Nm of torque. Audi claims that this concept is very fuel efficient and the fuel efficiency is rated at 52.63 km/l and we are sure everyone is grinning by now. The concept can drive 50 kms exclusively on electric power and a full tank gives a range of 880 kms. The sprint from 0-100 km/hr takes just 5.2 seconds and top speed is limited to 250 km/hr. No word on when this concept will go into production has been said by the German automaker yet.
