Tata Magic Iris CNG Spy Shot Front

Tata Motors’ commercial passenger vehicle the Magic Iris is all set to get a CNG variant added to the lineup, and was caught aggressively testing in the country. Our eagled eyed reader Rituraj Sambherao caught the test mules near Tata Motor’s yard at Spine road, Pune. The models were being hard ridden for testing purposes. The test mules were carrying partial camouflage covering the front fascia and the rear tail gate and bumper. Tata Motors’ website says the Magic Iris CNG is coming soon.

The Tata Magic Iris test models were specifically being driven under harsh conditions only to test their reliability. The camouflage on the other hand was possibly to hide the body decals or subtle modifications. The Magic Iris CNG could be tested for durability before the launch. Being commercial products, these models will be subjected to heavy running and safety would be a significant aspect that Tata may want to check with the CNG models.

The Tata Magic Iris CNG measures at 2960 mm in length, 1512 mm in width and 1800 mm in height, while the wheelbase measures 1650 mm. The commercial passenger vehicle is powered by a 611cc single-cylinder, water-cooled SI engine producing 13.2 BHP at 3000 RPM and 39 nm of torque at 1600-1800 RPM. The commercial passenger vehicle is available in two seating arrangements with driver + 4 passengers and Driver + co-driver + 2 passenger layout. Tata claims an ARAI fuel efficiency of 32 km/kg with a range of 220 kms. While the regular version of the Magic Iris retails at Rs. 2.10 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Iris CNG could be priced marginally higher at Rs. 2.45 lakhs, when launched across the country.
