Fiat Punto Jet Black 2 Edition

The current generation Fiat Punto was launched nine years ago in 2005 and is ageing really fast. While other contemporaries in the segment have gone through a generation change or a major revision, the Punto has soldiered on with virtually nil changes to the overall design of the premium hatchback. In a bid to keep the sales moving forward, Fiat UK has launched the Jet Black 2 limited edition for the British market. This is yet another special edition of the Fiat Punto as the company keeps on bringing limited variants, like the Young Edition which was launched in Italy last month.

Offered on the 3-door model only, the Fiat Punto Jet Black 2 edition gets a crossover black metallic paint job with light blue side stripes and has dark tinted rear privacy glass. The limited edition model also gets smoked 17-inch alloy wheels with retuned lowered sports suspension, side skirts, rear spoiler and adaptive cornering fog lights. On the inside the Jet Black 2 edition offers leather steering wheel and gear knob and the addition of automatic climate control and cruise control, parking sensors and voice-controlled Blue&Me Bluetooth multimedia connectivity.

The Fiat Punto Jet Black 2 edition is powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine that produces 77 HP of power. Prices for the Jet Black 2 edition starts at a premium compared to the standard 3-door model at 12,000 Pounds (Rs. 12.21 lakhs). In India, the Punto will get a comprehensive facelift later this year which should help keep the car fresh for another couple of years. The next generation Punto is slated to be a part of the Panda family and will be launched in 2015. The Punto name will be dropped altogether.
