Skoda Yeti Extreme

Skoda has prepped up a special edition of the Yeti SUV for the Worthersee GTI event which is held in Europe. Called the Yeti Xtreme, the rally inspired study concept blends the characteristics of an SUV with strong aesthetic elements for a beefed up look along with a lengthy equipment list from rally cars. The design makeover starts on the exteriors which receives aggressive looking front and rear bumper guards and a large front air intake, while the headlamps now feature LEDs. The wheel arches have been further pronounced on the Xtreme edition and get door sills finished in brushed silver matching the bumper guards.

Completing the visual package on the Skoda Yeti Xtreme is the dual tone paintjob that includes the body finished in matte black complimented with a fluorescent yellow roof. The yellow theme continues on the 17-inch alloy wheels as well that are wrapped around with chunky off-road tyres, while the rear gets dual exhaust outlets. The SUV features tinted side windows which contrast the yellow roof and alloy wheels. Step inside and the cabin greets the occupants with four Recaro bucket seats with four-point safety harness, while the floor gets aluminium panels along with the ‘Super Sport’ steering wheel with integrated paddle shifters.

The cabin has been finished in materials like carbon fibre for the inner covers and dark Alcantara leather for the seats. The Yeti Xtreme is equipped with an array of rally equipment which includes a sand shovel, thermos flasks which are fitted in the paneling. The redesigned centre console feature safety equipment like belt cutter and fire extinguisher, while an iPad cradle is integrated in the dashboard and a first aid kit is stored in the glove box. A full sized spare tyre is fitted in the boot of the rally SUV with special ‘recovery tracks’ that can be pushed under the wheels in case the car is stuck in sand.

Powering the Skoda Yeti Xtreme SUV is a 1.8-litre TSI engine that produces 150 HP of power and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. 0-100 km/hr comes up in 9 seconds and the top speed is rated at 192 km/hr. Stopping power comes from specially packed Octavia RS brakes. Skoda says that the concept demonstrates the brand’s strong expertise in four-wheel drive technology, as well as the strong experience in rally sports. The Czech car maker also unveiled the CitiJet concept (open top Citigo) for the Worthersee event.
