Yamaha R25 Special Edition Spied MotoGP Colours

The Yamaha R25 has been one of the most talked about and followed launches of this year. The R25 met with a fantastic response and garnered 2800 bookings within 25 hours of launch in Indonesia. While the bike is already in the process of setting the sales charts on fire; as per these new spy images Yamaha could surprise everyone by launching a special edition MotoGP variant of the R25 complete with the M1 livery and a race spec exhaust.

The special edition Yamaha R25 comes courtesy of Candra Custom Knalpot, an Indonesian performance tuning specialist that has designed the bike with the Yamaha MotoGP livery. The twin-cylinder bike sports blue and white colours along with racing decals, true to the concept version and the MotoGP M1 bike that makes the R25 look absolutely stunning. The Akrapovic exhaust system showcased on the concept also makes it to the R25 special edition.

While the performance figures are still unknown, the addition of the race spec exhaust is surely going to pack in an additional punch courtesy of the power upgrade. Complete details are still not known about the R25 Special edition, nor is the timeline of the launch. Yamaha could provide it as a factory option at a later stage or launch it as a limited edition variant. Expect the special model to fetch a significant premium over the regular model when launched, if at all.

The Yamaha R25 is powered by a 249cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin, DOHC, 8-valve engine that produces 36 PS of power at 12,000 RPM and 22.1 Nm of torque at 10,000 RPM, mated to a 6-speed transmission. The R25 comes with a price tag of Rs. 53 million Indonesian Rupiah (Rs. 2.7 lakhs) and with the additional upgrades; the R25 will be even more desirable.

After much speculation and contemplation, Yamaha made the global debut of the R25 with Indonesia being the global manufacturing hub for the sports bike. With the home market showing massive demand for the R25, Yamaha announced that it had to delay its export plans to meet the local demand first. The Yamaha R25 will make it to Indian shores by next year and we do hope that the MotoGP special edition makes it to the country as well.
