British luxury marquee Jaguar Land Rover has announced a new ‘Special Operations Division’ that will be dedicated to showcasing the best of both brands with high performance derivatives and ultra luxury models based on the current JLR line-up; along with limited run collector editions. The best part about the Special Operations division however, is that the team will focus on heritage cars which will include servicing and restoration of the models.

As JLR states, the new division will offer a range of products and services focused on meeting the increasing expectations of today’s enthusiastic car customers. The team will offer truly bespoke commissions with an extended choice of colours, trims specifications and accessories. A new portfolio of branded goods will also be on offer and will cater to a wide audience of existing and potential customers.

Headed by John Edwards, the new Special Operations division has attracted an investment of a new technical centre, established in England that will employ a team of 150 JLR specialists. The technical centre’s unique facilities will feature a customer commissioning suite for bespoke services and premium vehicle personalisation, Formula 1 inspired flexible workshops and a fully automated paint facility.

In addition to the new technical centre, a new heritage vehicle workshop will be created allowing the heritage team to bestow its facilities to servicing and restoration. The new workshop will also be the production site for recently announced six pending lightweight E-Types that will be recreated true to the ones from the 1960s.

Jaguar Land Rover has a history of high performance vehicles that could see the light of a new day with the Special Operations division. There is possibility of a high performance version called the Range Rover Sport RS that could be on the cards, while an ultra luxurious variant could also be on offer for luxury SUV lovers. However, it is the road legal version of the Project 7 (based on the F-Type) that we are waiting for.
