Mercedes A-Class Long Term Review

Mercedes-Benz will be launching the A-Class and B-Class ‘Edition 1’ variants that will be available from 24th June across the country. The new special edition variant will be sold for a limited time only and packs in an array of goodies and comfort creatures on the A180 CDI and B180 CDI diesel models and is in line with the ‘Edition 1’ variant available globally. Mercedes had launched the B-Class in India in 2012, while the A-Class made its Indian debut in 2013.

Changes on the exterior of the Mercedes A-Class and B-Class include new alloy wheel pattern, panoramic sun roof as well as ‘Edition 1’ badges and decals all around the vehicle. The cabin will also be loaded with goodies inclusive of features like front passenger seats with electric adjustments, updated reversing camera, rear seat centre armrest and entertainment options for rear seat passengers. In addition to the list, the passenger seat also gets memory functions.

Apart from the new equipment on offer, Mercedes has softened the suspension setup on the A-Class and the B-Class for a more comfortable ride. The ground clearance on the A-Class has also seen a tad bit of an improvement, courtesy of the raised suspension. The A-Class and B-Class Edition 1 models will continue to come with the same 2.2-litre 4-cylinder diesel powertrain producing 107 HP, paired to a dual-clutch 7-speed automatic transmission.

Successful products for Mercedes in India, the A-Class and B-Class accounted for nearly 20 percent of the company’s sales last year. Most of the additional features on offer on the Edition 1 are available on the petrol variants as standard; however it is the diesel trims that have seen more demand in the market. The Edition 1 models are expected to carry a premium price tag over the regular models, which will be announced at the time of launch.
