Chevrolet Sail Facelift Front

The Chevrolet Sail is a compact sedan that never really set the sales charts on fire. Poor marketing, bad perception about the brand, lack of service network, etc. are just some of the reasons for the product’s failure. The Sail also possesses neutral looking exteriors while the interiors have always been termed as boring. Chevrolet designers are giving the Cruze and Sail a redesign for their 2015 facelifts and while the Cruze has been officially unveiled, the Sail sedan facelift has been spied in China.

First things first, we must say that we are really impressed with this compact sedan’s new design. The changes are very significant and they completely change the look and feel of the vehicle. Up front, the Sail gets a new bumper, new headlights, new grille and new fog lamp housings. The headlights do resemble the Hyundai Verna though and there is no denying to the fact that the car looks unmistakeably Chinese. No changes to the side profile, while the rear also gets a redesigned bumper and new lights. The new tail lights remind us of the Verna yet again. The alloy wheels also feature a new design.

Chevrolet will not make any changes to the mechanicals on the Sail. It will be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine in India. The petrol unit gives out 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque while the oil burner churns out 78 PS of power and 205 Nm of torque. A more powerful 1.5-litre petrol engine may be introduced but nothing is official yet. The Sail might also get an optional sunroof. The Chevrolet Sail competes with the Maruti Swift DZire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent and the updated version will be launched in India next year.
