Mercedes CLA-Class Four Door Coupe

After losing its numero uno position in luxury car sales globally to rivals like BMW and Audi over the years, Mercedes has once again pointed itself towards positive sales. The three-pointed star lost its number one position to BMW back in 2005, and was then passed by Audi in 2008 as well. However, with some serious product change and a radical approach towards the market, Mercedes-Benz has been winning back its sales since 2013. The rising trend of the Stuttgart based automaker continued this year as well, as 2014 saw Mercedes post its highest ever six month sales worldwide.

From the January-June period, Mercedes-Benz delivered 7,83,520 cars to customers, which represents a growth of 12.8 percent compared to the same period in 2013 and is also an all-time record. The month of June individually witnessed the automaker deliver 1,42,136 vehicles to customers globally, which showcases a growth of 8 percent compared to June 2013 and once again an all-time record for the automaker. The fact that Mercedes also saw sales increase in every large market worldwide denotes the company’s good times.

China was the largest market that saw rapid growth and managed to retail 37.5 percent more vehicles in the first six months of 2014, compared to the same period last year. Compact luxury vehicles have been a significant growth driver for the company during the past six months, while the launch of the all-new S-Class has also contributed majorly. The automaker has a number of high-volume products on its way in the next two years that will certainly contribute to the rising sales trend.

The German trio Mercedes, BMW and Audi have been fighting it out with each other for the number one position over the years. While Mercedes-Benz has been growing exponentially, BMW and Audi too have been commanding commendable sales, witnessing year-on-year growth. The three German giants are now looking forward to the year 2020 as a deadline to give themselves the title of ‘number 1’, which will be supported by a whole new range of products that are scheduled to be launched in the coming years.
