2014 Nissan GT-R Track Edition left

If the recent reports are to be believed, Japanese auto major will be bringing the Godzilla aka the iconic GT-R to India very soon. A welcome move by the elite and aficionados alike, the news comes after years of waiting for the company to launch the iconic car in the country that is the fantasy of many. Nissan was postponing the official launch of the GT-R owing to worries of poor fuel quality and service support; however, it now seems that the company has worked a way around that or the demand with private importers have given the automaker enough confidence to launch the Godzilla in the country.

The Nissan GT-R is powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 motor that makes a mind numbing 545 BHP of power and 627 Nm of peak torque. The supercar comes with a four-wheel drive system to keep all wheels planted on the road; a lightning-fast 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and ideal weight distribution all of which contribute to make the acceleration figure of 0-100 km/hr come up in just 2.9 seconds (it will probably take you longer to read this sentence).

Nissan India recently discontinued the 370Z in the country, their most expensive car in India due to the lack of demand. The GT-R though is quite a popular car in the country with several examples on the road coming through private importers. Such is the fan following of the supercar that Sachin Tendulkar as well as F1 driver Narain Karthikeyan own a piece of this legend. You can also find several examples of the GT-R in the country re-tuned to produce over 700-800 HP of power, while a particular example in Mumbai makes over 1400 HP with the AMS Alpha kit.

To be brought in as a CBU, the GT-R is expected to be priced around Rs. 1.2 crores (ex-showroom) when launched in the country. The news has surely gotten us excited and we just can’t wait to get our hands on the supercar. So get ready to see the Godzilla a lot more often on Indian streets and those of you who were planning to buy a Porsche might want to hold back on your decision for some time till an official confirmation from the company is made.
