The Honda CB Trigger now produces 14.35 BHP power, 0.55 BHP higher than the outgoing model, while torque output remains the same at 12.50 Nm.
Well, well, well! Honda is finally feeling the heat post the arrival of new entrants in the premium 150cc segment. With Suzuki receiving a positive response for its newest Gixxer, Honda has now updated the CB Trigger with more power on offer, to counter the growing success of the bike in the segment. With no changes to the styling or exteriors, the CB Trigger continues to draw power from the same 149.1cc engine that is now tuned to produce 14.35 BHP of power (14.5 PS) at 8500 RPM (0.55 BHP more than the outgoing model), while the torque is the same at 12.50 Nm at 6500 RPM. The engines continues to send power to the rear wheels via the 5-speed gearbox.
With other mechanicals retained, the Honda CB Trigger measures the same at 2045 mm in length, 757 mm in width and 1060 mm in height, while the wheelbase is 1325 mm and ground clearance is 175 mm. The bike has a light kerb weight of 135 kgs, which makes for an impressive power to weight ratio. Suspension duties on the other hand are performed by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock set-up at the rear. The CB Trigger gets Honda’s Combi-Braking System (CBS) with a single 240 mm disc at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear. The lower version sports a 130 mm disc brake set-up. However, Honda still misses out on the engine kill switch on the CB Trigger along with most of its other models.
While Honda has been consistent in the scooter and mass market motorcycle segment, its more premium products have not been able to replicate successful numbers. With high pricing and the lack of features playing a huge role in the product’s poor sales, very little has been done by Honda to correct the same. Now, with the arrival of the Suzuki Gixxer putting the CB Trigger into jeopardy, Honda has given its 150cc bike a slight upgrade that will keep the bike fresh till its 160cc offering arrives in the market.
