Exteriors have been completely redesigned and look better in person

Mahindra launched the new Scorpio yesterday after a very long wait. The vehicle gets a lot of significant changes in and out. It also gets many mechanical changes. Mahindra has added a lot of new features too to make the Scorpio sound like an interesting proposition for buyers in this segment. Let us check out what the new Mahindra Scorpio has to offer.

First up, the new Mahindra Scorpio gets an all-new platform that also features a cushion suspension and anti-roll technologies to make the SUV a better rider and handler. The 2.2-litre mHawk engine gives out 120 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an all-new 5MT320 transmission which is designed to provide slicker gear shifts as compared to the outgoing model. The Scorpio gives a claimed fuel efficiency of 15.37 km/l. Mahindra has added the option of shift on the fly 4WD system too.

The exteriors are highly redesigned and now the Scorpio gets new bumpers, wheels, grille, headlights, tail lamps, fog lamps and cladding. The headlights come with LED eyebrows while the tail lights feature LEDs too. The Scorpio looks significantly different than the outgoing version. It looks good in darker shades like Regal Blue and Fiery Black while it looks hideous in the Diamond White shade.

The interiors too feature a completely new design. The dashboard is all-new while the steering wheel is inspired from the XUV500. The centre console houses an infotainment system with a 6-inch screen. The new instrument cluster looks jazzy and funky. Mahindra has added some new goodies to the Scorpio such as – rain and light sensors, Tyre-tronics which is a tyre pressure monitoring system, Intellipark which is a rear park assist system and also a new Voice Assist System.

Coming to the safety front, the new Mahindra Scorpio is equipped with dual front airbags, ABS, crumple zones with crash protection, collapsible steering column, engine immobilizer, panic braking indicator, auto door lock, anti-theft warning, speed alert warning and anti-pinch driver’s side window. It also gets a height adjustable driver’s seat, hydraulic-assisted bonnet, rear AC vents, cruise control, steering-mounted audio controls, electric ORVMs and headlights with Follow Me function.

The Mahindra Scorpio is priced between Rs. 7.98 to Rs. 11.46 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). It seems like a very interesting and value-for-money proposition when compared to the Tata Safari Storme and Renault Duster.
