Scheduled to launch in the coming months, first images of the production ready Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 facelift have been leaked online revealing the A-segment hatchback completely. Spied at the company’s facility in Gurgaon, the new Alto K10 takes a giant leap from the older generation model and has been updated with the Alto 800’s body shell and gets reworked front and rear fascia for a sharper and sportier look (sort of!). First launched in 2010, this is the first comprehensive update the K10 has been given but will continue with the same mechanicals under the hood.

Starting with the changes, the 2015 Maruti Alto K10 facelift gets redesigned sweptback headlights, grille and bumper as well as a revised front hood. The grille now sports a chunky new chrome garnish and is slightly larger than the one seen on the Alto 800. The side profile is largely the same, while the rear gets some noticeable updates including rearranged tail lights. The boot-lid has also been revised with sharper creases along with a redesigned registration plate area on the rear bumper.

Under the hood, the Alto K10 facelift gets the same 1.0-litre 3-cylinder K-Series petrol motor producing 68 PS of power at 6200 RPM and 90 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM, paired to the 5-speed manual as well as the automated manual transmission (AMT) from the Celerio. Expect most features from the Alto 800 to be carried over to the facelifted K10. The new K10 will also be offered in a CNG option as seen in the spy shots, while an LPG is also expected to be on the cards set to launch later in the product’s lifecycle.

The Alto K10 AMT will be positioned below the Celerio AMT in Maruti’s lineup and will be priced at a marginal premium over the K10’s manual variant. The car will get 13-inch steel wheels in the interest of fuel economy, while the top-end variant could sport alloys as standard. Going by the sales of the Celerio AMT, Maruti is certainly trying to replicate the same success with the new Alto K10 that will be rivalling the Hyundai Eon, Chevrolet Spark and Datsun GO in the segment.
