Suzuki Swift 30 Jahre

Suzuki has announced an all new 1.2-litre engine that will soon power the Swift hatchback internationally. Starting from early 2015, Suzuki UK will offer the new engine that uses twin fuel injectors for offering improved fuel economy over the standard engine options. While the current UK spec 1.2-litre petrol engine (not available in India) produces 94 PS of power, the new 1.2-litre DualJet unit is slightly less powerful producing 90 PS instead. However, the new engine gains on torque offering 120 Nm at 4400 RPM, instead of 118 Nm at 4800 RPM on the older 1.2-litre engine.

The engine further gets Engine Auto Start Stop (EASS) and minor changes to the gear ratios that overall contribute to a claimed 16 percent improvement in fuel economy. With all the changes, the 1.2-litre DualJet engine returns a mileage of 23.2 km/l on a combined UK fuel cycle, an improvement of 3.2 km/l over the existing engine. The savings also extend to carbon emissions that have been reduced to 99 g/km, which make the Swift free from vehicle excise duty (VED) charges in the UK. Swift owners opting for the new engine will also not have to pay for congestion charge when entering central London, courtesy of reduced emissions.

Suzuki will commence sales of the new 1.2-litre DualJet engine equipped Swift early next year and it will initially be offered as a 500 Pound (Rs. 49,000/-) optional engine choice on the SZ4 two-wheel drive variants. In the Indian context, it is unlikely that Suzuki will bring the new DualJet motor to the country. Ready to receive updates in the coming weeks in India, the Swift will see inclusion of new features, without any changes under the hood of the hatchback. The Indian spec Swift uses a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine options.
