Volkswagen Vento Facelift India

We have mentioned a lot of times that the C-segment is a huge fight ground for manufacturers. Every major manufacturer right from Maruti to Honda to Volkswagen wants to grab a bite of share from this ever-growing market. While most companies have launched new generations or facelifted models of their vehicles already, Volkswagen was lagging behind because the Vento hasn’t got any update since quite some time. The Vento facelift has now been spotted undergoing testing which hints to the fact that its launch is very near.

The 2014 Volkswagen Vento facelift will feature a number of changes. While the front gets new headlamps, a redesigned bumper and a new grille for the airdam, the rear too will see a slightly tweaked bumper. The tail lights might also get a tad different design. The interiors will see a major upgrade and according to us, the Vento will get the same features, steering wheel and silver centre console from the 2014 Polo facelift. The alloys will also get a new design most likely. These changes will give the Vento a much-needed boost and the sedan will become a much better package overall.

The main highlight of the Vento facelift will be the new diesel engine. The 1.6-litre unit will finally be discontinued and it will be replaced by the 1.5-litre TDI unit that currently powers the Polo too. This engine is available in two states of tune on the Polo but Volkswagen will only plonk in the higher state of tune in the Vento. Producing 105 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque, this oil burner will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed DSG automatic unit. The addition of the DSG unit will turn out to be a great boon to buyers since the gearbox is fairly quick and convenient.

It is a good time for Volkswagen to introduce the Vento facelift. While the Honda City and Hyundai Verna are already leading the sales charts, the entry of the Maruti Ciaz will make things very interesting. The Vento is a brilliant car backed by poor after-sales service. It is highly likely that the German automaker will launch the Vento facelift during the festive season in October 2014.
