The Hyundai Genesis is the company’s flagship offering globally and competes with the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes E-Class and the likes in the highly competitive executive sedan luxury segment.

The 2015 Hyundai Genesis went on sale globally earlier this year

A regular at the Autocar Performance Show, Hyundai has been proactive with its Indian operations and even showcased much of its global products in the country. This year too, the automaker has not disappointed fans at its pavilion which showcases the company’s flagship Genesis luxury sedan as its show stopper. Competing against the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6 and the likes in the segment; Hyundai has showcased the car to gauge response from customers and could also possibly launch the same in the near future.

Launched in its home market earlier this year, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan comes loaded with a host of features and has also been declared as the safest car by the Australian NCAP. Internationally, the model is equipped with a 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine producing 311 HP of power and 397 Nm of torque as well as a 5.0-litre V8 engine. The mid-size luxury saloon comes loaded with features which include Intelligent drive mode select, vehicle stability management, electronic stability control as well as a 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, auto climate control, Bluetooth hands free control and much more.

Priced very competitively at nearly Rs. 30 lakhs (Indian equivalent) in the UK, the Hyundai Genesis actually offers the space, luxury and performance of a 5-Series for 3-Series money. In terms of aesthetics too, the model definitely carries road presence and comes with a tad bit understated styling that will please the corporate class of buyers. Hyundai’s decision to bring the Genesis will hugely depend on the customer’s acceptance of brand ‘Hyundai’ in the premium space. Predominantly a small car maker in India, the automaker has been steadily making in-roads into the luxury space, but will it be able to compete against the German trio? The customer response should decide that.
