The next generation Honda Activa will get an updated suspension set-up and with telescopic forks and a new design language inspired from the Activa 125.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has re-imported a 110cc scooter in the country after testing (the company doesn’t test in India) which we believe is the new generation Activa set to hit the market soon. Codenamed ‘ON2Y’, the all-new Activa is scheduled to get comprehensive changes with mechanical and cosmetic upgrades, while the tried and tested 109cc engine from the existing version will be retained for the new version as well.
The Honda Activa 110 was last comprehensively updated in 2009 and the current generation model is now officially old compared to rivals like the TVS Jupiter as well as Hero’s upcoming Dash scooter. The new model will see a new suspension set-up with telescopic forks at the front replacing the really old spring loaded hydraulic shocks; while the design will take inspiration from the new Activa 125 retaining the pleasant yet conservative appeal. A new set of features could also be seen on the scooter including mobile charging socket, side-stand indicator and improved quality of plastics.
The outgoing Honda Activa is powered by a 109.2cc air-cooled engine producing 8 BHP of power at 7500 RPM and 8.4 Nm of torque at 5500 RPM, paired to a V-Matic automatic transmission. The scooter also comes with the Honda Eco Technology (HET) that helps deliver improved fuel efficiency of 60 km/l (Honda mode). The Japanese manufacturer’s best selling scooter in the country, the Activa has been able to put up a tough fight against the most selling Hero Splendor and even beat the latter in terms of sales several times past year. Honda will make sure that the same momentum is maintained on the new generation model as well.
