Hyundai Elite i20 Test Drive-Review
Hyundai serviced 4.3 million cars in India in 2014

Certainly the best year ever in the history of Hyundai India, the South Korean manufacturer sold 4.10 lakh units in 2014, its best sales ever in its 16 years of Indian operations. The brilliant sales record also led to an increase in Hyundai’s market share which grew to 21.6 percent for the first time in India. Riding high, Hyundai’s new growth also comes from its slew of new launches which include the Xcent compact sedan, Santa Fe SUV and the Elite i20 premium hatchback.

The Hyundai Elite i20 also turned out to be the company’s best selling model for the year and garnered over 60,000 bookings last year. The company’s Chennai based facility has also been running on full steam to keep up with the demand with Hyundai also shifting some of its export operations overseas to clear up space to meet the demands of the domestic market. With the new found aggression in sales, the automaker is significantly closing in on the country’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki. The previous year also saw Hyundai win the top exporter of the year award for the 10th consecutive year.

Hyundai India plans to keep the same momentum for the new year as well and will be launching as many as three new models, apart from comprehensive updates slated for the existing range. The manufacturer has the all-new ix25 compact SUV scheduled for launch in the second half of the year while in the first half, the facelifted versions of the Verna and Elantra will be launched. The Elite i20 based crossover will also be launched later this year while the new generation Sonata is also headed to our shores.
